New Pet Peeve
The use of "alas" when one actually means "at last." This wins the new Stupidest Thing I Have Ever Heard Ever in the History of Ever Award (a very coveted and prestigious award).
Example: Alas, my craft project is finished!
It's also what I'll call a Bonus Peeve: It evokes much more satisfying sense of scorn and disdain than you can possibly get debating politics or religion, because you're 100% likely to be right.
